Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 5. If you have anything to add call Harry

On April 3 a RUFF was among a large shorebird flock along Township Road
just north of Lower Klamath NWR.

A SNOWY OWL was found April 4 on private property about four miles south
of Boardman.

The Redmond BLUE JAY and the Cedar Mill SUMMER TANAGER are still being
seen, but the tanager is beginning to wander a bit. The TUFTED DUCKS at
Hatfield Lake and the Astoria Sewage Ponds are still being seen.

The spring migration is noticeably increasing. During the week
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, PINE SISKINS, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, and SAVANNAH
SPARROWS swarmed into the state. The SAGE GROUSE leks are now very
active.

At Boiler Bay during the week movements of WHITE-WINGED and SURF SCOTERS,
BRANT, and KITTIWAKES were being reported. On April 3 two LONG-TAILED
DUCKS and four COMMON TERNS were seen there. On April 1 TUFTED PUFFINS
were observed flying about Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach.

A MOCKINGBIRD is now at Brownsmead, east of Astoria. A SURF SCOTER was
seen during the week on the pond in Vernonia.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was on the east side of Sauvie Island April 1. A
SAY'S PHOEBE was at Detroit Flats, east of Salem April 1. Four GREAT
EGRETS were at Finley NWR April 3. Lots of LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and
GREATER YELLOWLEGS are there now.

A MOCKINGBIRD is now on territory at Santa Clara, north of Eugene. A
CASPIAN TERN was at Fern Ridge Reservoir April 1. A WILSON'S WARBLER was
seen March 29 in Central Point.

WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS are now back at Smith Rocks and the lower Crooked
River. Two CASPIAN TERNS were on Haystack Reservior near Madras April 1.
A THAYER'S GULL was on Wickiup Reservoir, south of Bend April 3.

Large numbers of SNOW, ROSS'S, and WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are still in the
Klamath Basin but good numbers have already moved over to the Harney
Basin south of Burns.
