Actually, that word isn't in my dictionary, but an odd looking robin
appeared in the yard a few weeks ago. Her washed-out coloring
really caught my eye. A pale version of a robin, particularly her
primaries and outer tail feathers. There seems to be a narrow V
of white plumage from mid-breast, down. She is building a nest
in my carport.
Coincidentally, a Junco whose black cowl has quite a few whitish
feathers in it built a nest in a pine cone wreath in the carport, just
six feet from the heavily-used kitchen door. She may have aban-
doned it.
