Hi All:

Yesterday afternoon, I spotted two female ospreys having a territorial
interaction over the nest south of the West Seattle bridge, on West Marginal
Way just south of the Grayline place. A bit later, a male showed up, and
all three were in the air. It was quite a sight - the three feathered
fishers in flight in bright sunshine, with the brilliant colors of the
Harbor Island cranes, the buildings of downtown Seattle, and a sky piled
high with thunderheads as a backdrop. Talk about your classic urban wildlife
shot!

This morning was less dramatic and more straightforward - a pair of ospreys
perched on the nest and then close together on one of the adjacent light
standards. I'm not sure what birds nest in the understory of the osprey nest
(house sparrows?), but they were already checking it out. At the same time,
there was an adult bald eagle perched on some type of perch pole (?) on
Kellogg Island.

BTW, what is the new wildlife and shoreline access place across from Kellogg
Island called? It looks like it will be a very nice area once the new native
plantings grow up.
