On Saturday Kris Baker & I saw a white headed woodpecker near the Icicle
Creek fish hatchery, in the front yard of the Leirvangen B&B in Leavenworth.
The neighborhood was inundated with evening grosbeaks, crossbills, juncos,
towhees, and house and cassin's finches. On the way home
we saw our first osprey of the season, very low over Hiway 2, just east of
town. Four turkey vultures were just west of Cle Elum on Sunday afternoon,
and we had several more sightings of turkey vultures (2-10 individuals)
about 8 miles up the Chumstick Creek Rd.
