Yesterday, April 8, we birded around Cle Elum and Ellensburg, looking for
signs of MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD nesting activity. Thanks to those who suggested
the locations... we were successful in finding both WESTERN and MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRDS in east Cle Elum near the Swauk Cemetary, as well as a pair of
CASSINS FINCHES, many HOUSE FINCHES, a NORTHERN FLICKER, a RED-TAILED HAWK,
an A. KESTREL, and lots of other species... the usual suspects.

Had a great time also on the Umtanum Road to Wenas, saw many more MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRDS, a couple of WESTERNS (box 122), many A. KESTRELS, WESTERN
MEADOWLARKS, HOUSE FINCHES, a PURPLE FINCH (suprised me), and an ALBINO
FLAMINGO... hehehe just kidding.

Thanks to the Yakima Audubon Society for the nest box program... we're going
to be back up Umtanum Rd. a few more times this year to observe the
MOUNTAIN's through the rest of the breeding season.

Cheers,
