Tweeters, Mountain Men, and others who answered my plea for alpine birds:

I appreciate all the comments on birding the alpine and lower regions of
our Cascades. The species came out about how I thought they would. In case
you wonder about my alpine bird expertise, I *do* know the birds, I'm just
not a lister, plus I'm a careful researcher and wanted up-to-date comments
from real people!! Again, thanks very much and forgive me for not writing
to each of you separately, but I've got two deadlines coming up and not
much time.

For those of you who don't go into the alpine regions, following is a short
list of birds that were commented on as being on the high slopes. The most
commonly mentioned species is first:

Common Raven
Grey-crowned Rosy Finch
Baird's Sandpiper
hummingbird spp.
Golden Eagle
White-tailed Ptarmigan
pipit spp.
Horned Lark
American Pipit
Mountain Bluebird
Blue Grouse
Pine Siskin

Neat birds all . . .

Cheers, Diann
