At midday today, Monday April 9th, I found a flock of small birds working
the deciduous trees at the Johns River access in Grays Harbor -- not the
main park entrance, but the secondary entrance off 105 just across and
slightly East from the Cranberry Co. This entrance is marked only by a sign
saying Parking Permit required.

The flock of 20+ birds contained at least 12 TOWNSENDS WARBLERS, many of
them singing. I have never seen this many at once before. The remainder
of the flock consisted of Audubon's YELLOW-RUMPS, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES
and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS.

A real surprise was a HERMIT THRUSH tuning up!

By the way, the TUFTED DUCK was still at the Hoquiam Sewer Pond, but the
Ross' Goose near Bottle Beach couldn't be found.
