Repeatedly over the winter and spring of 2000 we would hear and frequently
see a Barred Owl on our daily (evening) walks into the woodlot immediately
south of the Benson Road-Mill St. intersection. Our best sighting was June
4, 2000, when we stood nearly face-to-face with it for most of an hour.

We also saw Pileated Woodpeckers but have no specific dates.

There were nesting Barn Owls somewhere near the Boundary Bay-APA Road
intersection. We saw them frequently in the spring of 1999 on Moose
Trail. Again, the best sighting was May 10, one adult and a juvenile.
