Hmm, I don't think I've ever seen more than one Rhinoceros Auklet at a time,
I don't think that counts as a raft or a flock. I did count about 112 Brant
this weekend at Golden Gardens Park but they weren't rafted, they were
spread out almost single file a few feet off shore from around Meadow Point
to the north so they weren't flocked either, but I guess you would still
call them a flock. There are quite a few White-crowned Sparrows (WCSP) down
there too, but they're not in a flock either, they're spread out, even in
the parking lot. One has claimed the bushes in the turnaround circle as a
home base, he's almost always there, singing away. The songs are pretty
similar, two long notes, 4 or 5 short notes, then a trill usually but not
always followed by a higher note, making it sound like a question. My phrase
for them is "Oh dear, what cha going to do eh?" Or is that just for the
taiga race? Just kidding.
