Subject: Marymoor Park Report (Redmond, King Co. WA) 4/11/2001

Sorry Tweets - I'm a bit late on this report for Wednesday.

It was FOGGY until around 9:30, which severely limited the birding. Also, the
fog was only down in the lake valley for the most part, so many birds may
simply have headed up 100 feet to escape it.

We did have a couple of highlights:

Green Heron Several sightings, prob. at least 2 birds
Eur. Gr-w. Teal Drake at RC ponds again
Common Snipe One near weir, two at RC
Lincoln's Sparrow First one in weeks
Western Meadowlark Still one in East Meadow

Very little nesting activity was noted. Did have a Red-tail on the Rowing Club
nest, a House Finch in a nest at the first footbridge, and a Northern Flicker
going into a nest hole opposite the RC dock.

All told, 43 species.

ALSO I have a request to Tweeterdom. Is there anyone who can do my usual
Wednesday morning walk next week, April 18? I am out of town, as are most of
my host of regular hangers-on. It would be a shame to have a gap in my April
sightings for the park - it has GREAT potential. Please let me know ASAP.
