The Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge is seeking applicants for
a 6 month biological technician position. The term of the position will be
approximately May through October, depending when the position is filled.
The technician will spend the first three months of the term censusing
birds on the refuge using a point count protocol developed by the US Forest
Service and other agencies. Extensive vegetation data will also be
collected at these census sites. The remaining 3 months will find the
technician monitoring an active bald eagle nest, collecting data on hunter
harvested grouse and deer, entering data in spreadsheets or databases, and
doing other more eclectic refuge technician tasks.

This GS - 5 position requires one year of specialized experience or
completion of a bachelor's degree in science. In addition this individual
must be able to identify songbirds found in NE WA by sight and sound.

The official job announcement will be posted soon on the federal employment
website at www.usajobs.opm.gov
