Pals:

I was at Rattlesnake "Lake" today (there is only a wee puddle left, if you
doubt there's going to be a water shortage!), and a pair of geese were
putzing around. One was your garden variety Canada honker, but the other
is not in my bird book: s/he was gray, with orange legs, a dun neck with a
VERTICAL cream stripe, whitish head with two thin black angling lines
below the eyes/across face. It was a bit smaller than the Canada.
Gorgeous.

Anyone have any ideas what it is? They looked like they were content
there, so you could go see them. Take I-90 to exit 34 (just past N Bend),
turn R at the exit stop sign, follow the road ca. 4 mi to end at
Rattlesnake Lake.
