Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I birded a half day in Thurston Co., as the weather was
great, and warmer temperatures, but still a bit cool for the date. We
started out at 7:15am at the Weir Prairie near Rainier, where highlights
included:

2 Turkey Vultures
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk
2 female Am.Kestrels
4 NORTHERN BOBWHITES(heard only)
2 Red-breasted Sapsuckers
1 Hairy Woodpecker
4 Western Bluebirds
2 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES
1 CASSIN'S VIREO
4 Orange-crowned Warblers
1 CHIPPING SPARROW

At 11am we arrived at the Lacey clearcut, where future development is taking
place, with the obvious destruction of vast Scotch Broom thickets, probably
due to recent spraying for future clearing. We spent 30 minutes birding the
southeast corner of the clearcut, where we were able to locate 7 CHIPPING
SPARROWS, among other more common nesting species.
