Today, Apr 15, in Adams Co WA, we witnessed two of the most serious
hawk fights we've ever had the opportunity to observe.

A FERRUGIOUS HAWK tried to kill a RAVEN. For about five minutes
the hawk dove at the flying raven. Misses were by inches. Both were
exhausted when the hawk finally gave up.

Next, I think, a pair of SWAINSON'S HAWKS returned to find last year's
nest occupied by RED-TAILED HAWKS. We watched two Swainson's
taking turns diving on a flying male Red-tailed. The female RT stayed on
the nest which probably had young. All were alive when we left.
