Hello. I'm a novice birder and a newbie to this list. As my first post, I
saw a turkey vulture near the Snoqualmie River on Saturday afternoon. I'm
quite certain, as I grew up in Pennsylvania where they are common, and I've
been in Washington long enough to tell them from the other large birds that
are more common here. I have questions, though: was it a migrating bird,
or here for the summer? And just how unusual are they in Western
Washington? Are they more common east of the Cascades? Have they become
more common with the spread of farms and suburbs?
