Terry, I do appreciate the information, however I have to disaggree with you on the flickers going after carpenter ants in homes. My husband works for Terminix, and has for a while, and worked for Orkin before then....He has treated homes that have had carpenter ants, and the owners were alerted to the bugs by the flickers attention. Right now I have a friend in Maple Vally that has holes that expose the carpenter ants tunneling, (whatever you call it), and the flickers are always hanging out. Not hammering in those spots, but pecking irregular and softs pecks, that is what they sound like when they feed....So I hope that if anyone does have THIS behavior, please don't ignore it, as the ants can destroy a house.....
