When I lived in Ocean Shores we had a metal chimney and the drumming was a
daily activity this time of year. I thought they made noise to attract a
mate. The most exciting thing that happened with that chimney was when a
pair of Starlings made their way down and opened the damper, We had two 7
month old cats and two starlings crashing about the house at 5AM. The urge
to pull the covers over our heads and hide was strong. ..
