Hi Tweeties,

While house hunting in Orting yesterday I visited with a homeowner who's
place is a birders dream. She told me she's seen CARDINALS in her yard
along with birds common to the Northwest. I asked her to describe the
birds...."Red with a blue jay like head". Orting High School's mascot is
the cardinal, but I've always thought of the cardinals as a Midwestern bird.
Is this possible? Or could she be confusing a local bird with the cardinal?
WHAT local bird could be confused with a cardinal?

Oh, she also pointed out a bush in her front yard that she says is a
hummingbird magnet. What type of hummers live in the hills above
Orting? I like this place. It even has the other important things I need
in a house, not just birds and wild critters cruising through....

Thanks!
