I had both HAMMOND'S and PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS (one of each, calling
birds) at Tiny's Land in n. Lake Stevens early this morn, on the edge of a
mixed flock that included a couple Townsend's Warblers, several chickadees,
and kinglets. The Hammond's is a tad earlier than average, but the
Pacific-slope was right on schedule, with April 18 the arrival for three of
the last four years here.

At Allen Crest Elementary soccer field, along 4th Ave. in Marysville, there
was an apparent hybrid 2nd-winter GLAUCOUS x GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL in worn
plumage, with a group of (mostly) Glaucous-wingeds and hybrid Glaucous-w. x
Westerns. The bird had the white/translucent primaries and was otherwise
white overall, except for a few dingy grayish speckles on the back, but had
a mostly dark bill, except for a small pale area at the base, as with
2nd-winter Glaucous-winged. I've run into this hybrid previously in AK and
in the Russian Far East, and at least one other time in wWA.
