Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday April 19. If you have anything to add call Harry

On April 15 three LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCHES were seen along Oakdale Road
near Dallas. The sighting has not been verified.

A probable MCCOWN'S LONGSPUR was reported from Wickiup Reservior south of
Bend April 15; 204 COMMON LOONS were on the lake that day. The TUFTED
DUCK continues to be seen at Hatfield Lake near Bend.

The spring migration should be peaking in the next two weeks. This week
WILSON'S WARBLERS, PURPLE MARTINS, VAUX'S SWIFTS, HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS,
and COWBIRDS were the most conspicuous migrants. Among the migrant
shorebirds GREATER YELLOWLEGS and WHIMBREL were the most obvious. Along
the coast the first heavy SOOTY SHEARWATER movement passed Boiler Bay
April 13.

A late ROCK SANDPIPER was on Barview Jetty at Tillamook Bay April 14.
Good numbers of TUFTED PUFFINS were off Cape Meares and at Cannon Beach
during the week. A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was along Fenk Road near
Tillamook April 16. Single LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty of
Yaquina Bay April 13, and at the South Jetty of the Columbia River April
15.

YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were back at Ridgefield NWR April 12. Among the
many migrants at Mt. Tabor in SE Portland April 16 was a PACIFIC-SLOPE
FLYCATCHER.

On April 15 a SANDHILL CRANE was at Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro, a few
are still on Sauvie Island. The TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD continues at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove. Among the many shorebirds at Baskett
Slough NWR April 17 was a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER.

The LONG-TAILED DUCK continues to be seen at Detroit Dam east of Salem. A
BREWER'S SPARROW and two LESSER GOLDFINCHES were at Detroit April 15.

A LARK SPARROW was on Perkin's Peninsula at Fern Ridge Reservoir April
15. A ROSS'S GOOSE is still in the reservoir area.

On April 12 a male MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER was near Winston; a NASHVILLE
WARBLER was near Grants Pass April 14; a female BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was
near Jacksonville April 17; and on April 18 a HARRIS'S SPARROW and two
HOUSE WRENS were near Williams south of Grants Pass.
