Sightings for Thursday, April 19th

At Deer Lake, there was an OSPREY, a BARRED OWL, a CLIFF SWALLOW and a BARN
SWALLOW while at the lawn of Burnaby Municipal Hall was a GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE. Near Lougheed Mall were two HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS and a
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER.

At MacDonald Slough near Sea Island was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE while
at the nearby Iona South Jetty, there was a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and 2
EARED GREBES.

A BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was in the Green Timbers are of Surrey and at
Trout Lake in Vancouver was a SORA.

In a late report for April 17th, there were 2 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES at Cecil
Green at UBC. At Queen Elizabeth Park, there was another TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE, 3 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER. At the Iona
Ponds were 10 LEAST SANDPIPERS. On Iona Beach, there were 2 SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS and 20 WESTERN SANDPIPERS. On the Iona North Arm Jetty were 5
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS.

Sightings for Wednesday, April 18th

Increasing migration was noted in many areas today. Good numbers of raptors
were seen over the Oak and 58th area of Vancouver including a dark phase
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK. Also in this area was a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER. This
species was also noted in Queen Elizabeth Park and Deas Island Park. A
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was seen at QE Park as well as LINCOLN'S SPARROWS,
HERMIT THRUSHES and a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER. TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS were
seen here and also at Burnaby Lake.

At Beach Grove in Tsawwassen were 2 MARBLED GODWITS and a Eurasian
GREEN-WINGED TEAL.

Sightings for Tuesday, April 17th

The second year ICELAND GULL was again seen at the Bailey Landfill in
Chilliwack.

At Blackie Spit in Surrey was a WHIMBREL while at Reifel Refuge there were
4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE.

An OSPREY was seen in the 100th Ave and 148th St area of Surrey and at
Burnaby Mountain were a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and a BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLER.

Sightings for Monday, April 16th

The PALM WARBLER continues to be seen on Deering Island in the Southlands
area of Vancouver.

At Beach Grove in Tsawwassen, there are now 2 MARBLED GODWITS.

Increased migrant activity was noted in several places today. Most notably,
there were TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES at Queen Elizabeth Park, Burnaby Lake and
Burnaby Mountain. Also at QE Park were LINCOLN'S SPARROWS and TOWNSEND'S
WARBLERS. ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at 19th and Camosun in Vancouver and
at Centennial Park in White Rock.

In Minnekhada Park in Coquitlam were 14 RING-NECKED DUCKS and a Eurasian
GREEN-WINGED TEAL. At the nearby Debouville Slough were a GREEN HERON, 4
OSPREY and 2 TURKEY VULTURES.

There were 7 TURKEY VULTURES over the waters of Active Pass.

At Iona Island were a male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS and
off the jetty, the large mass of scoters continues.

Sightings for Sunday, April 15th

The PALM WARBLER has again been seen on Deering Island in the yards of local
residents.

At Colony Farm, there was an AMERICAN BITTERN.

Those wishing to see GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCH and who don't mind a road trip
should note that several very cooperative birds are located at Blackcomb
mountain near the coffee shop at the top of the "Seventh Heaven" chairlift
