The TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD invasion in central and eastern WA is continuing.
Birds were seen in 4 counties this past week.

TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS are continuing to be seen at the Para Ponds northwest
of Othello, Adams Co WA. From Othello go north on Broadway (west end of town
extending north from WA 24) past the processing and storage facilities, SVZ
and cubing plant. When the road crosses the RR tracks it becomes McManamon
Road. Continue across the canal and down the hill past the two potato sheds.
The Para Ponds are just beyond on both sides of the road. On the 12th Ruth
Sullivan found 4 males and a female. Also at the Para Ponds were
BLACK-NECKED STILTS, AMERICAN AVOCETS, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, DUNLIN, and a
single EURASIAN WIGEON. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.

You can also check for TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS in Grant Co WA where they have
been reported the past couple of years. The birds have been seen from the
overlook along road 22 NE east of WA 28. To get to there from Soap Lake,
take WA 28 east toward milepost 73. Just east of milepost 73, turn north
onto road 22 NE toward Marlin. Go 1.9 miles to the large pullout on the
north side of the road. On the 11th Ruth Sullivan found 22 males and 13
females. WA DeLorme 69, A-8.
In extreme western Lincoln Co WA, Ruth found 2 male TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS
east of Marlin, along Marlin Back Road, near Crab Creek in a mixed flock of
Red-winged and Yellow-headed Blackbirds in a horse corral on 11 Apr. WA
DeLorme 70, AB-1.

A single male TIRCOLORED BLACKBIRD was with Red-winged Blackbirds at a
feeder on Old State
Route 26 in Whitman Co WA last weekend according to Bob Flores. The bird was
coming to feeders at a house located next to the Palouse River just west of
Hooper. The feeders are clearly visible from the road. DeLorme 55, B-7.

Steven Mlodinow requests that you please send him descriptions of any
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD sightings (SGMlod at aol.com).

On 15 Apr a single EURASIAN WIGEON was at the ponds north of Reardan,

of Reardan along WA 231. WA DeLorme 88, C-1.5.
