Saturday and Sunday I birded mostly in Grant, Lincoln and Adams counties.
Highlights include:
WILSON'S PHALAROPE - 1 at the Hwy 26 bridge in Grant County at the Adams
County line.
WHITE PELICAN - 1 at the above location and a dozen or so at Wilson Creek.
BLUE-WINGED TEAL - 1 male today (4/22) at Dodson Road and Frenchman Hills Rd
in Grant County.
BANK SWALLOWS - At several locations.
CASPIAN TERN - 2 at Dodson Rd
GREAT HORNED OWL - An adult w/ 3 owlets at the nest; on Baseline Road about
a mile east of George, WA.
CLARKE'S GREBE - A pair seen from O'Sullivan Dam sharing a fish.
LEAST SANDPIPER - 1 at Quincy STP
EARED GREBE - 6 at Quincy STP and 1 at Para Ponds near Othello.
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD - Difficult to count the 2 to 3 dozen or more
individuals at the Wilson Creek site. They are very active. I watched as
one Tricolored was at a stand off with a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD. The
Tricolored spread wings and tail fully and after a couple minutes, the
Yellow-headed backed off and then left the area. I found no Tricolored's at
Para Ponds on Saturday.
AMERICAN X EURASIAN WIGEON - 1 at a pond near the above site.
