Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I birded 4 hours in Thurston and Grays Harbor Cos., as
the weather was very appropriate, with warming temperatures, being almost
too warm at times. The main highlight was a single SOLITARY SANDPIPER at the
Brady Loop Rd. "ponds", located at the west end of Brady Loop Rd., as we
birded this location at 3pm.

We started out at the Lacey Clearcut at 12pm, where we located 2
dragonflies, being two CALIFORNIA DARNERS, as they foraged wildly along the
sun-exposed gravel road into the clearcut. We located a few notable species
of birds, despite the slow time of day including:

2 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS
1 HERMIT THRUSH
1 CASSIN'S VIREO
12 CHIPPING SPARROWS
4 Evening Grosbeaks

Next, we headed west and made an extensive stop at the Schouweiler Rd.
wetland, just west of Elma, where the warmest temperatures persisted, but we
managed to locate our first WILSON'S WARBLER of the season, being a singing
male, as it foraged with several Yellow-rumped"Myrtle"Warblers in low
underbrush at the base of the extensive wetland. Few other species of birds
were noted except a pair of Cinnamon Teal ,and a single Lincoln's Sparrow,
but we also managed to locate another dragonfly species for the day, being
up to 10 PACIFIC FORKTAILS noted along the main north-south trail seperating
the large wetland.

Our last main stop was made at Brady Loop Rd., where the "ponds" located at
the west portion of the loop produced the most species, as most other nearby
fields, and normally flooded fields were dry, and being plowed, or were
already plowed. At this location we spent 30 minutes scoping the wetland,
and listening for notable songs, with the list consisting of the following
highlights:

25 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
1 pair of Cinnamon Teal
1 pair of BLUE-WINGED TEAL
4 SORA(heard only)
5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS
1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS
1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER
4 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS

Good birding,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
