Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday April 26. If you have anything to add call

The wintering BLUE JAY near Redmond continues to be seen.

Heavy movements of warblers, flycatchers, and vireos were reported during
the week. A few BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS and WESTERN TANAGERS are also
being seen. CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS were reported from Silverton and
Eugene. A major movement of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and VAUX'S SWIFTS took
place with a good number of SWIFTS at Chapman School in Portland April
23. MOUNTAIN CHICKADEES are still being seen in western Oregon.

A SWAINSON'S THRUSH was at New River, south of Bandon April 24. A RUDDY
TURNSTONE and two LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were at Bandon last week-end. Two
SOLITARY SANDPIPERS and two WESTERN KINGBIRDS were in the Coos Bay area
April 23. Two LONG-BILLED CURLEWS, a RED KNOT, and 5 LONG-TAILED DUCKS
have been on the North Spit of Coos Bay.

Several BANK SWALLOWS were checking a bank at Seal Rock State Park April
23. A SAY'S PHOEBE was on the beach at Devil's Elbow State park April 22.

The April 22 offshore boat trip out of Newport found 145 BLACK-FOOTED
ALBATROSS and several RED and RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. 15,000 SOOTY
SHEARWATERS were off Boiler Bay April 21. Two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, a
LONG-BILLED CURLEW, and several VESPER SPARROWS were near Astoria April
24.

A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at Steigerwald NWR near Washougal April 20. A
GREAT EGRET was in Scappoose Bottoms April 21. A BRANT was at Baskett
Slough NWR April 22 and the wintering MAGPIE at Monmouth continues to be
seen. The LONG-TAILED DUCK is still at Detroit Lake east of Salem.
ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS and BULLOCK'S ORIOLES are now in the Rogue
Valley.

On April 22 up to 50,000 ROSS'S GEESE, including 5 blue phase birds, were
in the fields south of Burns. Only a few SNOW GEESE were seen.
