To those asking about the turkey sightings along Hwy 109 just outside of
Hoquiam; there was a release of some wild turkeys north of that area, but I
don't have the numbers, the exact location or the exact date, so I am not a
very big help. I believe it was a few months ago, according to a local
biologist. This may be one and the same bird being sighted...there have been
at least 4 sightings in the last 2 weeks in approximately the same area.

Yesterday, Thursday April 26, was on my way home after a disappointing time
at Bowerman Basin, when an event made my day. Heading North on Hwy 109
somewhere around Ocean City, at around 5 PM, I saw
a TURKEY walking along the edge of the road and woods! Traffic and no
shoulder made it impossible to stop and I didn't see much detail. It was a
dark bird and there was some bronze iridescence in the plumage. Sorry, no
more details. It seemed an improbable place for an escaped domestic and even
more improbable place for a wild one.
Have there been any sightings of wild Turkey in the Pacific Northwest or
report of escaped birds in that area?
