Sightings for Saturday, April 28th

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again in Port Moody.

At Cecil Green at UBC was a BLACK and WHITE WARBLER. Also at this location
were TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, WILSON'S WARBLERS, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS,
PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, 4 DUSKY FLYCATCHERS, a PURPLE MARTIN and a TURKEY
VULTURE in over flight. Another PURPLE MARTIN was seen at Maplewood
Conservation Area in North Vancouver.

At Queen Elizabeth Park were 2 DUSKY FLYCATCHERS, TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS,
WILSON'S WARBLERS, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS and a WARBLING VIREO. Seen
here in over flight were two ROSS' S GEESE.

At Tatlow Park in Vancouver were WILSON'S WARBLERS, a BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLER and a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE.

At Gilbert Beach, at the south end of No. 2 Road in Richmond were 15
WHIMBREL. At Iona were 4 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS, 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS,
SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS and a SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER.

Sightings for Friday, April 27th

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was again seen in yards behind Ioco Road in Port
Moody. To access the area, travel west on Ioco Road to Bentley, where you
turn left and then turn right at Alderside. Follow Alderside for 1.4
kilometers until you reach the 1100 block. Here you will find cement stairs
leading up to railroad tracks. Walk 30 meters east along the tracks. The
bird has been seen in backyards uphill from the tracks. Please be respectful
of the residents and of course watch for trains.

In Chilliwack, there were a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER and an arrival WESTERN
TANAGER. In Abbotsford, at Willband Creek Park, a WILSON'S PHALAROPE and a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER were seen.

In South Surrey, an arrival BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was seen. Also an arrival
species was a PURPLE MARTIN at Maplewood Conservation Area.

At Queen Elizabeth Park, 2 DUSKY FLYCATCHERS were seen and heard. Also here
were 3 TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES.

Sightings for Thursday, April 26th

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD has again been seen at its Port Moody location.
Instructions are included with the April 25th report.

Among numerous migrating passerines were BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS at
Trout Lake in Vancouver, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER in Chilliwack and
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS in Abbotsford and Maple Ridge. Those wishing to view
the Maple Ridge WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at the feeder it has been frequenting
are asked to call the homeowner, Cathleen, at 463-4668 to make arrangements.

Three MERLINS were seen again in the Holly Park area of Surrey.

At Iona, the count of YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS in the North Outer Pond is up
to 3, while near the second shelter of the Iona South Jetty, there were 2
EARED GREBES and a CLARK'S GREBE.

Out of town on the Sunshine Coast, the SAGE THRASHER is still being seen at
the bottom of Field Road in Port Slalashen in Wilson Creek.

In late reports for April 24th, at Campbell Valley Park were a BARRED OWL
and a PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHER. At Burnaby Lake was a Lapland Longspur and
at Inlet Park in Port Moody was a GREEN HERON.
