This is a trip report for Tuesday the 31th of July
My stops where on Brady Loop Road around 8.00AM
Bottle Beach at 9.45 Am,and Tokland Marina at 11.30 Am
High tide was at 11,17 on Pacific beaches,so i planted to be at an incomming
tide on Bottle beach
and on a outgoing tide in Tokland.When the Shorebirds comming down from the
jetty to feed in the lagoon as the tide recede.
I took this trip manly to see the Red-shoulderd Hawk on Brady again What
least fife birders saw on Sunday and it was also sighted by two birders
yesterday morning.Wich i missed both times yesterday.Also in Tokland to get
a photo of the female Bar-tailed Godwit what 10 birders saw on Saturday.I
proable have 100 photos of the three Bar-tailed Godwit what was present last
year.Each bird in a different plumage and sex.All the photos show a grayish
or white belly and flanks
even on some of the worst photos.Also the white supercillium are strong
visible what reaches behond the eye.I did had poblem with this paticular
Bar-tailed Godwit on Saturday because this bird was covert by onother
bird,so seeing partly the underpart was greyish as also the Whimbrels what
was present.Only i was convinced as this bird was moving around and i saw
the bill plus other details.I am always sceptical and judgemental on many
birdsightings .
I must say as i aproached the Jetty there where so many birds what realy
astonished me.I had my work cut out,to go one by one to all this birds.But
one good things where, there was spread out,so i could watch each bird.I
spend three hours and must say,i did NOT find the bird i came for.Also as
the tide supposed to be high on 11.17AM at 2.30 PM the tide was barly
receding in the lagoon.The Shorbirds flew of at one time, start to land
behind the big white barn where the water was still to high for them to
land.So most of the birds flew back to the jetty where there was preening
for the longest time.

Bottle beachat 9.45
Whimbrel 65
Black-bellied Povers 50(mpst all still in breeding plumage)
Dowitchers20( presumingly Long-billed Dowitchers due to the less barring of
sides on and breast,also tail bars seems broad
Western Sandpipers 300
Bairds 2 juvenile birds
Least Sandpipers 2
Ruddy Turnstone 1
Sempalmated Sandpipers 500.(this seems high,but the beach was covert with
this pretty little plovers close to shore.
Amazing was before High tide reaches, all the birds flew of and did not
stay all the way comming closer to the beach
