Steve, Scott, Ruth and Patrick, et. al.,
I'm afraid I can't comment about stilt sandpiper occurrence at Jensen Access, since I have birded this area many times but almost exclusively from the dike at the top of the stairs, from where I've seen only species that I would expect to see in tidal flats and marshes. On a few occasions I have walked out directly south, slowly and carefully because the footing can be treacherous, but I have never walked alond the dike more than fifty feet or so to the east or west because it is clearly posted and it's not permissible to walk the dike. Similarly, there are signs in the marsh only a few yards east of this access that prohibit entry. It seems to me from the recent posts that others have been able to explore this area more thoroughly than I have. The pond and wetland to the east that Ruth and Patrick reported sound intriguing, but how does one get there? Is the dike now open?
