Hello, fellow tweets. For those who might be interested, I discovered a beautiful art exhibit Thursday evening, 2 August, in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle, Wash., at the monthly Art Walk of open galleries.

At the Stonington Gallery, 119 S. Jackson St., Seattle, (206 405-4040), there is a new exhibit of paintings and line drawings by Thomas Stream, an Aleut artist. His paintings include stylized birds in bright colors, but the birds have enough realistic detail that I think the artist observes birds carefully before using them in his work. His paintings at the gallery include such species as Great Blue Heron, Chickadee sp., Magpie sp., and Western Gull (I think the bird was identified as a West. Gull--not sure if the artist would mean what we do by that term, but then I wouldn't recognize most species of gulls).
Also of note in that gallery: a beautiful bronze sculpture of a Barn Owl and some gorgeous gold jewelry.
The Thomas Stream exhibit runs through 31 August.
