Hello Tweets,

Today I saw a large bird fly into a dense evergreen tree in my back yard. Swallows were squeeking and swooping around the tree, a crow swooped around the tree fussing loudly. Something must have caught a swallow.

A few minutes later the culprit flew out of the tree with something in it's talons. The bird was smaller than a crow, rather dark with a very short, sharp beak profile. It's tail was very long and rectangular in shape..

I've seen Cooper's Hawks scoping out the tweetie boids in the background before, but this raptor was too small. So could it have been a merlin or a sharpie? I am still living near the Green River on the south end of town near the South Central Bridge.
