Hi, all:

Last year I asked tweeters about a mysterious bird that looked like a
strangely plumaged flicker. A birder on tweeters told me it was a juv.
starling and my response was, "Naw!" I had a hard time believing that
woodpecker-looking creature was actually a stubby starling at any time in
its life cycle! I had checked field guides before I went on line but didn't
even glance at the blackbird section until the tweeters response. I would
like to say that no one told me I was an idiot for doubting the first
response; others came on line and said "Really! It IS a juv starling."
Nobody said, "..it's a juv. starling, you dummy!" Thanks again to all the
tweeters who take the time to help out others who may not be as
knowledgeable.
