Sightings for Saturday, August 4

A juvenile RUFF was seen near the Mansion, midway between 88th & 96th on
Boundary Bay [pg. 98]. Also at this location were a Golden PLOVER of
undetermined species and 3 RED KNOTS.

Other shorebirds of note were the SOLITARY SANDPIPER & 150+ LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS at the Iona ponds [pg 117]. A WANDERING TATTLER was observed at
the tip of the Iona south Jetty [pg 120].

Two PURPLE MARTINS were reported from Farm Slough at Blackie Spit [pg 107].

A TURKEY VULTURE and a GREEN HERON were seen at Surrey's Derby Reach.

Friday, August 3

A GREAT EGRET was reported east of the intersection of Hwy 11 and Bateman
Rd. in Abbotsford.

A juvenile RED KNOT was seen between 104 & 112th on Boundary Bay [pg 98].

Thursday, August 2

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was seen at the Iona Ponds.

Wednesday, August 1

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was reported from the Reifel Refuge [pg 66] along with
9 SANDHILL CRANES, & 2 GREAT HORNED OWLS.

Two BARN OWLS were seen working the fields in the old subdivision north of
the BB airport [pg 92].

At the Tsawwassen Jetty compensation lagoon [pg 77] were 7 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS, & 280+ CASPIAN TERNS. An OSPREY was seen at the end of the
Robert's Bank Coalport Jetty [pg 74].
