I just returned from a most enjoyable birding tour led by Mark Stackhouse.
We covered the Ruby Mtns. of eastern Nevada and the Salt Lake City area. We
got the #1 target bird in the Ruby Mtns, the Himalayan Snowcock, rather
easily. In fact. we saw three of them and heard at least one more call. In
a canyon above the city, Mark had three Flammulated Owls in one spot and a
fourth in another spot nearby. I got three other life birds on the trip and
now realize the Salt Lake area is a very underrated birding spot. I plan on
returning next year.
