This last Sat to Sun. I backpacked into Robinson Canyon with my two
daughters about 1 mile. Great place to bird. Even in the middle of the day
when it was about 78 produced a lot of birds. Mostly along the riparian
zone. In the evening we heard Western Screech Owls, Common Poorwills, Common
Nighthawks, and later in the evening about 5 plus coyotes. The stream is
almost dried up (just a trickle) so take lots of water if anyone heads up.
On the way out we seen one rattle snake in the shade. Or should I say it
seen us because it let us know with a rattle. Didn't make it up the canyon
farther where the variety of owls increase but as Tom Aversa pointed out to
me the Western Screech Owls are in the first mile and possible Flam owls.
Played tapes but couldn't get them to respond. Here's a consolidated list.
