Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday August 9. If you have anything to add call Harry

Two MANX SHEARWATERS were off Tierra Del Mar, north of Pacific City
August 5. Four POMARINE JAEGERS were there the next day.
A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was along Oceanview Drive in Brookings August
5. It may have been the same bird that was there during the first week of
July.
Shorebird numbers remain high with many juveniles now being seen. LESSER
YELLOWLEGS are now well scattered over the state. On August 4 a
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and 450 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were at Bandon. A
flock of 245 WHIMBREL flew south along the Coos County coast August 2.
A BREWER'S SPARROW was on Bayocean Spit at Tillamook Bay August 4.
On August 1, 22 GREAT EGRETS were at Ridgefield NWR. A flock of 13
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and 102 WHITE PELICANS were at Smith Lake in North
Portland August 6. The five MUTE SWANS continue to be seen at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.
A MARBLED GODWIT was at Ankeny NWR August 5. A flock of 15 WHIMBREL and
12 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir August 2. A
SANDERLING was there the next day.
