Ocean Shores was knee-deep in birds on Sunday. Dave Hayden, Ruth &
Patrick Sullivan gave a good account of the species seen. Here are
additional sightings:

Brady Loop Road 9.15-10.15am

1 pacific slope flycatcher
2 willow flycatchers
1 orange-crowned warbler
2 yellow warblers
5 Wilson's warblers
1 western tanager

Westport Jetty 12.54 - 1.50pm

140 brown pelicans
30 black turnstones
14 surfbirds
6 wandering tatlers
1 belted kingfisher
2 black-legged kittiwakes
2 ruddy turnstones
1 hummingbird spp - this bird flew in from the sea.

Cyber Lake, 4.00pm - standing room only on the boardwalk across the
lake !

186 greater yellowlegs
5 lesser yellowlegs
4 hooded mergansers
2 long-billed dowitchers.

Damon Point 4.15 - 6.00pm - there were good numbers of least sandpipers
flying south. Flocks were high up - at least 1,000 feet and barely
visible to the eye.

15 semi-palmated plover
1 black-legged kittiwake
162 least sandpipers - flocks flying south:
7,18,10,9,16,33,10,12,6,32,16.

Marine View Drive & Butter Clam St access 6.00pm - 7.45pm - this is the
usual main roost probably for all the birds feeding in the north bay of
Grays Harbor. The birds were very jumpy due to the wind and the number
of cars driving up and down the beach with people enjoying the view but
not the ocean air, sigh.

2300+ black-bellied plover
120+ red knot
1500+ short-billed dowitchers
1 dunlin
2 red-necked phalaropes
3 ruddy turnstones
500+ western sandpipers.
1000+ sanderling

The dowitchers were mostly short-billed (calling) though there were
bound to be quite a few long-billed in there as well.

An additional 1000+ mixed western and least sandpipers were seen at
Ocean Shores game range.
