August 11, 8:03 PM - This is Steven Mlodinow. Today Dennis Duffy and I
birded from Othello to the Walla Walla River Delta, mostly hitting shorebird
spots. There was a lot of shorebird movement today. The rarest was a
WHIMBREL at Lake Kahlotus. There was also 2 BAIRD'S and 4 SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS there. At the Othello xxx ponds there were 4 SOLITARY and 7
SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS. At the Washtucna Sewage Ponds there were 12
BAIRD'S, 2 SOLITARY, and 5 SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS. At Iowa Beef there were
50 LESSER YELLOWLEGS. Our full day total was greater than 90. We also had a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER at Iowa Beef. At Washtucna there was a BEWICK'S WREN
which I believe is a bit of a range extension for this bird. We also had a
MERLIN at the Othello xxx ponds andf a RED-NECKED GREBE at the Walla Walla
River Delta. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

August 12, 4:38 PM - This is Steven Mlodinow. This morning Dennis Duffy and
I birded Lind Coulee, which is one of the eastern arms of Pot Holes
Reservoir. There we had 15 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS. Also there was 1 PECTORAL
and 6 BAIRD'S. On the way home we also at some of the Russian Olive groves
along Frenchman Hills Road just east of Dodson Road. We had a BEWICK'S WREN
in one of these patches. That's it. Good luck and good birding.
