Hi all,
I stopped by the main pond at the montlake fill after the AOU meetings were over for the day and found a nice assortment of shorebirds.
3 Western Sandpipers, 2 were very worn.
3 Least Sandpipers
1 Semipalmated Sandpiper-Also very worn, all of the peeps appeared to be adults, this was a much different individual than of the 3 I saw on Tuesday eve, none of these were nearly this worn.
1 imm. Spotted Sandpiper
5-6 Killdeer, kept flying around a bullying the leasts. And no i'm not reading things into this..... On at least 3-4 occasions a killdeer would run at one of the Least Sandpipers and "flush" it ahead of it and in a minute or two it would repeat this action.

I've been quite impressed by the numbers and diversity of shorebirds this week at the fill. Since this is my first time birding it this fall; I would be interested in hearing how others have found it diversity wise prior to this week. You can email me offline for this as I'm sure I have more interest in this "catchup summary" than do others who have been here for the months of July and August.
