Today Dave Hayden, and my mother and I birded Skagit Co. at selected
shorebirding locations, along with a quick evening check made at the
Stanwood STP in northern Snohomish Co., and a morning visit to the Skagit
WRA headquarters for migrant passerines. We joined Scott Atkinson and Anne
Winskie at Jensen Access of the Skagit WRA at 6:40am, where we checked a few
shorebird locations south of Fir Island Rd., including Jensen Access, and
the Snow Goose Preserve, as well as a side excursion to the Skagit WRA boat
launch area along the east dike trail for any early migrant songbirds. We
checked Jensen Access three times during the day as shorebird counts varied
greatly, including two visits with Scott, and one visit from 2:40pm-5pm,
after arriving from other locations. Weather conditions were very good, but
somewhat poor for shorebirding, especially at Jensen Access with great
distortion and heat waves at times, but we managed to located several
notable shorebird species. A list of the most notable species followed by
the locations follows:

Skagit City/Moore Rd. pond(2 visits) 6am, 2:20pm-2:35pm
