I found 3 WHITE-FACED IBIS, in post-breeding plumage, just barely west of
Camas, at about 7:30 this morn. The birds were feeding at the edge of
the Columbia River at a spot where Rt 14 looks right down on the open,
estuary-like spot from a bridge; there is virtually no shoulder here but
on the north side of the road there is a gravel strip to park on and walk
over. This spot is in the Delorme is on p. 23, D5.
THIS IS THE MOUTH OF THE WASHOUGAL RIVER AT THE EAST END OF LADY ISLAND.

Other birds worth mention in the area: 3 Great Egrets at an unknown NWR
just east of Washougal along the Columbia River; 1 Green Heron, 1 Rufous
Hummingbird, 1 W. Wood-pewee and a possible Veery at Hathaway Park in
Washougal along the Washougal River. The possible Veery called 8-10
times over 15-20 minutes from low thickets along the far side of the
river, but could not be seen, and there were several starlings nearby,
thus there is some chance of mimickry.

THE UNKOWN REFUGE IS THE STEIGERWALD LAKE N.W.R.
