On July 30, Laurie Ness reported a female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD in her Pasco
yard.

Bob Woodley observed the following birds at the Yakima Delta on July 31: 1
GREAT EGRET, both YELLOWLEGS, 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER, some AMERICAN AVOCETS
and LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

Near Badger Canyon on August 1, Charlotte Reep saw a SHORT-EARED OWL as
well as a FERRUGINOUS HAWK.

A male COMMON GRACKLE was at Two Rivers Park near Finley on August 8,
observed at Dennis Rockwell's feeder. It was molting or otherwise missing
several tail feathers. It flew off after eating and was not relocated.

On August 10, Ruth Fischer found 6 RUDDY DUCKS at the Yakima Delta.

Two migrants visited Laurie Ness' Pasco yard on August 14; a MACGILLIVRAY'S
WARBLER and a WARBLING VIREO.

The Paterson Slough Unit of the Umatilla NWR in Benton county had 13
species of shorebirds on August 21 including 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 2
juvenile SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 2 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, and 40 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. There were also 8 BONAPARTE'S
GULLS. Observers were Ruth Fischer, Bob Woodley, and Nancy LaFramboise.

An afternoon walk in Groves Park in Richland on August 23rd had a good
assortment of birds for Bob & Pat Woodley. They saw 1 AMERICAN WHITE
PELICAN, 1 KILLDEER, 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER, 1 BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD, 1
male DOWNY WOODPECKER, 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 1 WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE, 1
BEWICK'S WREN, 1 male, YELLOW WARBLER, 1 male WILSON'S WARBLER, and 1 male
WESTERN TANAGER.
