All-
Did some birding today on the coast, nothing extravagant or new that hasn't
been reported at Ocean Shores, probably because I hit every spot at the
worst possible tides. A Tattler was at the base of the jetty.
The main highlight of the day was a juvy STILT SANDPIPER feeding in with the
Marbled Godwits in front of the big jetty at the marina in Tokeland.
Am I sensing a theme this year with Stilt Sands in odd habitat types?
I picked it up and had it in view for about 5 minutes, as I searched through
the 250+ Marbled Godwits looking for a Bar-tail. No luck on that search,
but hey, I'll take a Stilt Sand any day. The bird fed until a few WILLETS
came over and spooked it, and it flew off.
This was about 12:00 or so.
