The usual abject apologies for any cross-postings.
Attached are re-typed copies of the DNR agenda and handouts for the Aquatic
Reserves Public Meetings which are currently underway.
Additionally, at the meeting held in Seattle on November, 29th, Loren Stern
indicated that DNR was willing to meet independently with local groups to
discuss their specific issues and concerns. I know I'm going to invite them
to meet with organizations I am affiliated with and suggest others do the
same. We need to reaffirm to DNR that:
#1 -- the status of all existing aquatic reserves remain unchanged;
#2 -- value of protected lands to the aquatic ecosystem and not economic
development must be the driver in determining future use of other,
unprotected DNR aquatic lands; and
#3 -- we need more, not less, such designations to protect critical habitat
for fish and wildlife in Washington State.
If you have any questions or comments, don't hesistate to contact me.
