Today (12/03/01) I birded briefly during my lunch hour near the Smith Dairy
in south King County between Kent and Auburn. There was an AMERICAN KESTREL
with a mouse on a wire at the Smith Dairy. Also in the area was a
FRANKLIN'S GULL at about 2:00PM. It was with MEW GULLS 3/10 of a mile
south of the intersection of West Valley and 277th. It was on the east side
of the West Valley Hwy in the fields surrounding a farm.

>From Hwy 167 about a mile south of Kent take the 277th exit. Turn west
onto 277th and very shortly turn left (south) at the light at West Valley.
>From I5 take the 272nd exit and turn east on 272nd. It will soon become
277th . In about 2 miles you come to West Valley (181).
