I've had both varilux and lined bifocals and I much prefer the varilux.
They also make it easier to read music, although I now have two pair of
bifocals, one for music, one for everything else. I almost always wear my
glasses with binoculars, its the only way I can see the trees let alone the
birds. (I'm about 20-800+, corrected to about 20-40) I've worn glasses
since I was eight, so I'm used to wearing them.
