On Friday Dec. 7th, my wife and I joined the flock of birders at
Oaks Bottom in Portland, to view the four COMMON REDPOLLS that the good
birders on OBOL have kept track of, these were Oregon State birds for me
and a lifer for my wife. We then headed to Vancouver Lake with a stop on
the way for a little shopping. At Vancouver Lake we found two GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and one EMPEROR GOOSE at the ponds just North of Post
Office Lake. A check of the blackbird flock at Frenchman's Bar failed to
produce the Rusty Blackbird that has been reported there but the fog on
this side of the County made the viewing difficult.
