Hi folks,

My Father and I just got back from our morning walk about 11:00 AM when my
Dad said there were two Anna's on the feeder. I went to the window to look
and there was a female Anna's feeding and an odd lump on the far side of
the feeder. As the feeder spun around I realized the "lump" was a second
female Anna's hanging by her claws from the perch, belly up and bill
straight up in the air,. My first thought was that she was dead, but if I
had reasoned it out I think I would have known better. I went outside and
got the pole to remove the feeder and the "lump" flew away. The other
female Anna's was raising holy hell in the plum tree all the time. Now I
wish my first thought wasn't for the bird but for my camera.

On our walk at the Golden Gardens Park pond we saw two pair of Buffleheads,
a pair of Barrows Goldeneyes and a male Hooded Merganser amongst the massed
quantities of Wigeons and Mallards. In the Sound off the parking lot were
six Western Grebes, four Red-necked Grebes, about 49 Double-crested
Cormorants on the breakwater with six more in the water. A pair of Surf
Scoters rounded out the flock
