George Gerdts and I located a flock of ca. 120 REDPOLLS in Ellensburg,
feeding in teasel weeds about 200 yards west of the 90 degree north to east
bend in the entrance road to the Eberg airport north of town. Unfortunately
the flock was very flighty and took off before we could check them for
hoaries. They headed west and north. Also at the airport near a hangar was a
flock of 20+ GRAY PARTRIDGES. We dipped on Bohemian Waxwings in Cle Elum and
could find only ca. 10 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS and several YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRDS in the huge flocks of blackbirds and starlings at the Para feed
lot southeast of Othello (junction of Reynolds and Hatton Rds.), as
described by Bob Flores. Light failed and the flocks dispersed before we
could pick out any Rusties.
