This afternoon I observed an immature male Pileated Woodpecker eating
suet from the feeder outside my dining room. He fed for about 20
minutes, taking a termite break. This is the first time that I have
observed a pileated eating suet in Washington. As a kid growing up in
northeast Ohio, there was a pair that routinely ate suet during cold
winter days from our feeder.
